We have lots to fill you in on regarding our build with Wayne Homes in making our Hampton our dream come true. Needless to say, we've been very busy. Lots of meetings, phone calls, emails, and so forth. The biggest change, and our favorite, has been the birth of our daughter Alaina (Lanie is going to be her common name):
She was born on 2/28/17, right in the middle of all of our plans :-)
In the meantime, daddy has been busy trying to take on as much work as possible, knowing that mommy had a lot of things on her plate. You know, growing a baby in her uterus, still trying to work, having the baby...things like that. We've accomplished a lot, yet also it feels like we haven't moved far at all either. In the time since our LIPC meeting, we have continued to get info to the bank for the loan, such as copies of documents and completing things like insurance. At this point, we are simply waiting for closing. In terms of the home, Wayne Homes got our building permit completed, and I got our permit to put in the culvert from the Division of Highways, since it was along a state road.
Mandie also called all our utilities to figure out what we needed to do. The biggest thing from them was that they needed us to have our 911 address established before we set up our accounts and our taps. To get the 911 address, the center needed our building permit (check!) and the driveway roughed in (not so much check). We've kind of played a roundabout. To get taps, we need an address. To get an address we need a permit. We got the permit. To get the address we need the driveway roughed in. To rough in the driveway, the loan needs to be closed. To close the loan, they need an address for their documentation and other purposes. Things aren't exactly in our control, but since this whole 911 issue is fairly new to Wayne Homes (they haven't had this issue with the 911 center before), they're going to work with the bank to make sure this doesn't hold things up.
In the meantime, I got a copy of the survey results, which showed our lot to be slightly smaller than we had initially been reported (.895 acres versus .97 acres). Either way, the boundary is established.
Additionally, I met with the appraiser at the lot to answer questions and get information to him to make the appraisal on the lot and the home. That was a short meeting, but it went well. I also met with the power company to establish where the temporary power pole should go, and I marked it with a stake. The pole just has to be within 75 feet of the established pole.
I also marked the driveway for the 911 folks (granted now it doesn't seem to matter since we have to rough it in), so it's marked for our excavator with poles and blue paint. I've also been working with 811 folks to have all the utilities marked on the lot (mainly gas, water, sewer as they are underground lines).
At this point, we are simply waiting things out. We've done all we can do, and are waiting on Wayne Homes and Home Savings & Loan to get back with us on closing. Once that happens, we can rough in the driveway and prep the lot for dig day. Below are some pictures of the lot from on the high side. More to come!!
