Dig Day!!!

We made it through dig day, a momentous day in our home-building process! The day the earth started flying, and a nice huge hole was put in the ground to begin our new home. We met with Tim, our field manager, and Bob, our excavator (He makes me think of Bob the Builder lol). Tim showed us some of the blueprints that were finalized, they double checked the leveling and where the home would sit, and away they went. TIm put up our new Wayne Homes signs, gave us our framed "Welcome Home" blueprint sketch, and so began our new process. We got rained on slightly, but nothing that could stop them. Interestingly, we found some long since petrified trees underground, and a french drain that was previously put into the yard to help some drainage issues, otherwise, no major issues at all. It was a nice, clean, simple, yet huge occasion. If all goes well with the weather, the foundation will be poured and the block will begin to go up by next Friday. Below are some pictures from the day!

And so begins the digging!!!

The digging begins

This picture below is of the high end of the lot, where the foundation/basement sits deeper underground

Here, Tim and Bob use their laser leveling to make sure the floor where the footers sit is level across the width of the house.

PM Pictures: Here are the pictures from after I got back home for the evening. This shows the area where the garage will sit, and the basement behind that.

The area below the living room and the front porch area of the home.

It's hard to tell, but it's quite deep at the highest end of the dig, maybe 10 feet? There's some water due to the rain, and also possible due to some of the natural moisture that was there from the natural moisture levels likely due to the creek. Again, we've accounted for that.

From the creek-side of the lot, you can tell how deep the higher end is. From here, it's only around 3-4 feet, whereas on the high end it's more like 10. You can also see the portion where the garage will sit.
