We Have a House

At the time of the last post, we had some of the framing up, basically being a shell of the first 2 floors. Since then, which was just Saturday, change has been frequent. Monday, they came and added the trusses to create the shell of the roof. On Tuesday, lots of things happened. The framers came and finished the house. The cleaned up all of the water from where it had rained, added steps down to the basement, put in the windows and doors, and put the roof on. Also, Tim had met with Union Williams PSD, and we got some more details as to what we needed to do. We had to pay our fees ($350 for water tap, $350 for sewer tap, $150 deposit), but once that was done, they'd give us stakes for the builders to mark where the taps would go into the main system. Once the stakes are laid, UW-PSD would come and finalize the location, install the tank/grinder (I think the grinder?) and connect that tank to the main lines, which are pressurized. We just have to tap into that same tank on our end from the house. At the same time, they were doing work on our neighbors lines when they discovered the access points to the main line were under our driveway, so they had to dig down to get to them, leaving about a 1 foot deep hole. They are basically going to bring the access points to the level of our driveway so they aren't under the surface anymore. Mandie went today and paid those fees and dropped the stakes off at the house. Furthermore, the crew came and dropped off the shingle materials.

At this point, we are doing our next walk-through tomorrow afternoon. Tim told me the next steps for the lot are going to be roughing in the HVAC on Friday, roofing on Monday if weather cooperates, and the electrician will come sometime next week. We're also waiting on confirmation for when the plumber will come too. When I walked into the house yesterday, it was the first time that it truly felt like a home, and even better, OUR home. So many exciting things happening!

Mommy and Jaxon visiting the house. The trusses are installed, and some more of the plywood has been installed, though not finished at this point.

The day we came with Jaxon was right after the storms. The power went off in town, hence the sump pump wasn't running. Combine that with the fact that the house isn't closed off, and you have a swimming pool in the basement. I flipped the breaker, sump pump came back on, and by Sunday, all was good and dry. Those pictures are below.

We think this broken piece below may have been from storm damage, but nonetheless it was fixed on Monday.

We also noticed the garage door had a chip in the wood, so Tim put in an order to get it replaced. In the meantime they went ahead and installed it.

Below is where the PSD had to dig up their access points.

The house looks awesome!! The porch was added on, doors installed, and windows!

It's going to be nice to have a porch we can relax on!

Really glad we went with this front door, it looks great!

You see the door coming in from the garage, with the powder room being on the left, and pantry on the right.

Steps heading down into the basement.

At the top of the stairs, they took out the temporary railing and framed up the actual soon to be wood-capped walls.

The framing is finished, with the egress window installed in the basement. The house is so tall!

Here you can see the back of the house with the step framing in place.

Can't believe how FAST this has all come up, it's very exciting!!
